5 Reasons 2016 was “The Year of the Brelfie” & New Year’s Eve Giveaway

2016 has been a difficult year to push through. Last year we held a giveaway to bless a special mom out there with breast milk jewelry to honor her journey. I would have liked to do more with this project during this past year, even still I can see that the fruits of my labor of love for this community are beginning to blossom. It is really amazing to witness the change in our society after all of the hard work and sacrifice of so many mothers over that past few years.

To help you all bring in the new year 2017 we are inviting you to our online giveaway {BELOW} to win some amazing products donated to our project.  These amazing brands have collaborated with us to promote the Normalize Breastfeeding TourYou have the opportunity to WIN several AWESOME items tonight:

  1. Original Tree of Life Breast Milk Jewelry Pendent from Indigo Willow
  2. PumpEase Hands-Free Pumping Bra by Snugabell
  3. Sakura Bloom Sling
  4. Earth Mama Angel Baby Organic Lotion
  5. Normalize Breastfeeding Ladies V-Neck Tshirt

BUT FIRST, let me share a #brelfie
😉

…….

In 2016, normalizing breastfeeding was taken to a whole new level, in all of the best ways that you could ever imagine.

1. ALYSSA MILANO SHUTS DOWN WENDY WILLIAMS
Alyssa Milano was confronted by Wendy Williams about “oversharing” on social media. Milano’s response? She said she would “whip ’em out” to breastfeed on Wendy’s show!

We responded with a worldwide Virtual Nurse In for Alyssa Milano in support of her stance after Tamara Leigh Perry wrote this open letter to Wendy Williams:

2. FACEBOOK WAS HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR NOT UPHOLDING ITS OWN POLICY
Adrienne Griffin started a Petition to Facebook to end harassment toward moms sharing brelfies after 22 of her photos were reported by anonymous trolls.

3. CELEBS ARE DOWN FOR THE CAUSE

4. THE UNITED NATIONS PUBLICLY SUPPORTS BRELFIE SHARING
“A social media trend of mothers sharing “brelfies” – pictures of themselves breastfeeding – is a good way to break down any stigma about breastfeeding in public and spread the word about the importance of a mother’s milk, the United Nations said on Friday.

“It’s absolutely to be encouraged,” World Health Organization spokeswoman Fadela Chaib told a regular U.N. briefing in Geneva when asked about the brelfie fad.” VIA REUTERS

5. THE ANATOMY OF A BREASTFEEDING CHILD RESEMBLES #TREEOFLIFE

Mothers worldwide used the PicsArt mobile app to edit and share more than 500,000 brelfies in just a couple of weeks in mid December 2016.
